Ooooo, resio Endi da uzme GS...
Lendl to start working with Murray for start of 2012 season. Number of weeks still being worked out but definitely at all of the Slams.

NeilHarmanTimes When I wrote the Lendl story to coach AM in March, I was roundly pooh-poohed. Now it has happened. A remarkable start to the new year

LONDON -- Andy Murray hired eight-time Grand Slam winner Ivan Lendl as his coach Saturday in a bid to finally win a major title.

The fourth-ranked Scot will begin working with the Czech-born Lendl as he prepares for the Australian Open, which starts Jan. 16.

"It was important to me that any new person joining my team was able to add fresh insight," Murray said in a statement. "Ivan's impact on the game is unquestionable and he brings experience and knowledge that few others have, particularly in major tournaments. I look forward to working with him going forward."

The 24-year-old Murray spent all of last season ranked in the top four but still ended it without a first Grand Slam title.

"I am really excited to have the opportunity to work with Andy," Lendl said. "He is a unique talent and I look forward to trying to help him reach his goals."

Murray reached the Australian Open final and the semifinals of the other three Grand Slams last season. He has lost in two other major finals -- the 2010 Australian Open and 2008 U.S. Open.

Murray's manager, "American Idol" creator Simon Fuller, hopes that "having a champion like Lendl join his team will help him achieve his ultimate ambitions."

Ivan Lendl poznatiji pod nadimkom Ivan Grozni koji ce pomoci Makici da osvoji Wimbledon i ako je svojevremeno izjavio da je trava za krave da je pasu, a ne da se igra tenis... :D

Endi objasnjava zasto je izabrao Lendla...
"I liked what he said and how he felt about my game. I think he has obviously got a lot of experience. I also think he has been through a lot of the same things that I have been through, so I am sure he can help me mentally with certain things. And also just his eye for the game; he obviously understands tennis very well".

"I think when he played he was a very hard-worker," continued Murray. "He is also one of the most successful tennis players ever, so he obviously has a lot of knowledge and information that he can give me and pass on to me. And he was just a very honest guy as well, which is very important because not everybody is like that. A lot of people are maybe too nice sometimes, they just don’t want to upset you or say the wrong thing. But he was very honest, very open and that was important."

The Dunblane native explained one of his objectives with Lendl would be to find a way past the Top 3.
"I spoke to him about a lot of the top players and how I am going to beat those players and how to see their weakness and how I can exploit them; I like that. So I am sure he will help me tactically as well."

When questioned on Lendl’s lack of coaching credentials, Murray responded, "The best coaches don’t always make the best players and the best players don’t make the best coaches. So I think that is something that I am sure will be a challenge for Ivan and he seemed quite excited by that as well. He has never coached before and he was saying that he was willing to learn. I am looking forward to it."

I već je počelo :tap:

Lendl will be superb and successful with Murray

Što ne ostave dečka malo na miru, neće mu pomoći ni što sad svi očekuju da Lendl napravi čuda.
I will not walk your dusty path and flat,
denoting this and that by this and that,
your world immutable wherein no part
the little maker has with Maker's art.
I bow not yet before the Iron Crown,
nor cast my own small golden sceptre down.

LENDL'S NEW CHALLENGE
Spoiler: pokaži
Although the upcoming Australian Open may be too early to assess fully the impact of Ivan Lendl’s arrival in Andy Murray’s support team, it can safely be assumed that the new coach’s renowned single-minded approach will have made a noticeable impression.

The 51-year-old Lendl appeared in 19 Grand Slam finals, winning eight of them, and was world No.1 for a total of 270 weeks – and this in an era when the faces across the net included Bjorn Borg, John McEnroe, Jimmy Connors, Mats Wilander, Boris Becker and Stefan Edberg.

What Lendl has not done previously, of course, is to coach anyone at this level, but the unrelenting pursuit of perfection which characterised his playing career still shines brightly on all his endeavours, whether at golf ( he is off scratch) or running his new tennis and golf academy at Hilton Head Island, South Carolina.

There are, too, similarities of style and outlook which will have appealed to Murray when he had exploratory talks with Lendl. Murray has reached, and lost, three Grand Slam finals so far; Lendl lost four of them before collecting his first – Roland Garros in1984.

Both men’s keen sense of humour is well-concealed and though Murray can unleash his emotions in times of triumph or stress, Lendl’s Czech upbringing ensured that opponents rarely knew what was going through his mind, and this may be one of the assets he can instil in his charge.

Perhaps it was the Lendl straight face which persuaded the rulers of North Korea to put him on one of their postage stamps in 1986, the year he won the French and US Opens and was runner-up at Wimbledon to Becker.

Certainly the impression of stiffness was difficult to shake off. That same year the American magazine Sports Illustrated greeted Lendl’s US Open victory over Miloslav Mecir with the headline “The Champion Nobody Cares About”, a dismissal so patently absurd that it probably still rankles.

Two years later I asked Wimbledon’s leading men and women who they most admired in their sport. McEnroe, Wilander, Pat Cash (who had beaten him in the 1987 Wimbledon final), Steffi Graf and Martina Navratilova all nominated Lendl. All cited his work ethic and determination.

These attributes were not enough to add Wimbledon to his list of eight Grand Slams (three French, three US and two Australian Opens), which ostensibly provides ammunition for those who might doubt the wisdom of Murray’s choice.

However, when he was asked which part of his career provided most pride, Lendl said this: “My record at Wimbledon, believe it or not. The tournament absolutely, positively did not suit my style but I was able to do very well there, even though I never won the title.

“Two Wimbledon finals and five semi-finals may not be as good an achievement as eight US Open finals and three titles but relatively speaking I think it’s superior. Of course, people never believe me when I say this. I wish I had learned to like Wimbledon sooner, because I came to love it.”

That deep-lying Lendl sense of humour was revealed when he told me that his Wimbledon record had once earned him a fine dinner. “A friend of mine used to run a mini-tour I played on and one day he said ‘I need to buy you dinner’. I asked why and he said ‘I went to a bar the other day and there were about 25 guys watching a tennis match. I said to them, help me guys, what year was it that Lendl won Wimbledon?'”

Lendl smiled, “They said no, he never did. So my friend wagered 100 dollars with each of them. They put the money on the table and he said ‘Thank you very much, 1978, Juniors.’ So he bought me a great dinner.”

And should Lendl help Murray to his dream of the Wimbledon title another memorable dinner would surely be in order.

Murray beat Australian teenager Bernard Tomic 6-3, 6-2 in the men’s semis and will play Sunday against third-seeded Alexandr Dolgopolov.

“That was good. Served very well today, which is important against Bernard,” said Murray, who fired 13 aces and didn’t give Tomic any break-point chances in the 70-minute match. “Just moving so much better. It’s a huge part of my game. When I move well, the rest of my game goes well.

“My movement at the start of the week for me it felt like a 1 out of 10. Now I feel like I’m moving about an 8 or a 9 out of 10. Can still get better, but I’m playing well.”

The increase in tempo wasn’t solely to impress his new coach.

“Anytime you start working with someone new it’s different, but I’m just interested in winning,” Murray said. “I don’t mind if it’s ugly, if I played badly or I played great. (Vidi se da je Gilbert bio u njegovoj lozi  ) You just need to fight as hard as you can to get the win. Fortunately today I played well on top of that.

“Whether Ivan was here or not, I still would have put in a tough performance.”

Murray said whatever he and Lendl discussed in terms of strategies and his game management would remain confidential, but he didn’t hide his pleasure at having the former champion watching from the courtside box.

“I’m glad he’s here. I know he’s going to help me. I’ve enjoyed even just the first day with him,” Murray said. “He has a lot of knowledge, a lot of experience. He’s going to help me a lot, I’m sure.”

I Mekinro se oglasio: http://uk.eurosport.yahoo.com/09012012/ ... urray.html

I hate to give credit to Lendl

Zlopamtilo ostaje zlopamtilo

Btw, nije mi jasno što svi ovu titulu pripisuju Lendlu u zaslugu, nije Endi nikad imao problema s ovakvim turnirima, i sigurno nije doveo Lendla da mu pomogne da osvoji Brizbejn.
