U Bodovom clanku They Said What? 5.29 saznajemo jos nesto o Endiju
Not to be outdone as a fashion icon by that Spanish clothes horse Nadal, Andy Murray (who took out Tatsuma Ito in straight sets) balked when he was informed that his one of his numerous Boswells in the British press, the estimable Neil Harman, had pronounced Nadal's shirt "uninteresting." Presumably, that was a tweet, for Harman is a regular Tweetin' fool.

Murray asked if Harman was in the room. Informed that the correspondent for London's Times was absent, Murray said:

"So I can be really, really rude about him (Neil), then . . . Some of the shirts that he comes to work in have been very dodgy over the years, so I'm not going to listen to what he's got to say on fashion, that's for sure."

Since things were getting kind of personal, but in a good way, Murray went on to admit that he played only in "old" socks. He says his feet slip in his shoes a lot, so he prefers old ones, which are softer and somehow give him more secure purchase. Of course, that can be a problem during clay events, at which the socks take a terrible beating, color-wise, but Murray revealed that he'd just done his own laundry, back at his hotel, a few days earlier. When it came to socks, he was loaded for bear.

How old are those socks he plays in, someone wondered?

"Have no idea. Probably—like I'll wear new socks like just to walk around in, and the old ones to play matches in. I mean, they could be, I don't know, two, three months old. Don't know. No idea."

It's difficult not to like Andy Murray.

Murray questionable for Queen's Club
Wednesday, June 6, 2012

Andy Murray is questionable for the grass-court tournament at Queen's Club next week due to back trouble.

"I'll do what's best for my preparation for Wimbledon, back or no," Murray said after his four-set loss to David Ferrer at Roland Garros. "I need to get some good physical work done. That's going to be important. So, when I can get that done, whether it's over the next five, six days before I play at Queen's, or the four or five days I would have after Queen's before the tournament obviously at Wimbledon, it's not a disaster if I can't play a tournament beforehand. Novak [Djokovic] didn't play before Australia this year; I don't believe he played before Wimbledon last year. Many times Roger [Federer] has not played an event before. It happens all the time. You just need to make sure you're comfortable on the courts and the surface you're playing on before you start the tournament."

Murray added that while he has a lot of improvement to make on clay, he still thinks he may win the French Open someday.

"You never know. Stranger things have happened," he said. "I think I would have had a good match with someone like [2004 Roland Garros champion Gaston] Gaudio on the clay. And someone like Magnus Norman [who reached he 2001 final], it is possible to win the event. But you have to play your best tennis to do that; tonight I didn't."

Verovatno će propustiti Kvins. Ali od sva četiri, našao je koji će slem da pikira :tap: kako bi bilo da krenemo od betona za početak?

Andy Murray unfazed over Wimbledon preparations after shock first round Queen's exit to Nicolas Mahut

"Oh, it's panic stations. I've just got no chance to be ready for Wimbledon now. It's going to be impossible," he said with a wry smile before providing a serious assessment of his form.
"These result often happens. (Novak) Djokovic isn't playing the next two weeks, so there is no need for me to panic," he said. ( jos cu da poverujem da mu je Nole idol)
"I don't think it all went wrong. It was a very close match and it takes a bit of time to adjust to the grass courts.
"The transition to grass isn't normally too bad, but I did struggle with my movement especially early on in the match. That's something that I will need to improve.
"I just need a few more days to get my movement right, and then I'll play better."

Murray, who suggested it was unlikely he would make a late entry into next week's tournament at Eastbourne, also hit back at criticism from Tommy Haas.
The German veteran this week claimed the British No 1 exaggerates injuries on court in a bid to change the momentum of matches if he isn't playing well.
Haas's comments came just days after former Wimbledon women's champion Virginia Wade described Murray as a "drama queen" when he suffered a back injury but recovered quickly to beat Jarkko Nieminen at the French Open.
"In the time I have been on tour I've been called many, many things from my personality not being exciting enough. I have been called boring. It was said I was unfit, lazy, fake injuries. All sorts," Murray said.
"It's something that kind of goes hand in hand with playing sport. People criticize you regularly. So it's something you need to just deal with. But I don't care for his (Haas) opinion."

Andy Murray becomes Rado ambassador

Image

Recently announced as the official timekeeper for the Aegon Queens tennis tournament, Swiss watch brand Rado also revealed that Murray is their newest ambassador.

Murray said, “I’m really excited about joining the Rado team. The brand is all about edgy style and performance. Timing, precision and accuracy are vitally important for me, whether that relates to fitness drills, measuring my performance or striking a tennis ball.”

Andy Murray column: Davydenko will be a tough opening opponent
By Andy Murray
British number one, 23 June 2012

Spoiler: pokaži
My seventh Wimbledon campaign gets under way on Tuesday and I'm pleased to report that I feel great, training has gone really well and I'm raring to go.

I play Nikolay Davydenko in the first round and I'm fully aware of how tough that is going to be.
He's a top quality player, a former world number three with 21 ATP World Tour titles to his name.
Whether it's my toughest opening match at a Grand Slam you never know - I've gone five sets with Gael Monfils, Jo-Wilfried Tsonga and Richard Gasquet before - but in terms of the quality of opposition, I'd say it's definitely up there.

Being back at Wimbledon is fantastic. I come here to practise sometimes as they have decent clay courts, a nice gym and it's always quiet, which is ideal when you just want to be out of the way.
When I train here we tend to eat lunch right next to the door out to Centre Court, it's great to sit out there, look at the empty court, and soak it all up.
Next time I'm there it will be packed, and I can't wait. I'll come in to practise for a couple of hours on Sunday but the next 48 hours are about trying to conserve as much energy as possible.
All my fitness work is complete so I'll just do some yoga, stretching and flexibility work to make sure my muscles are as loose as possible for the start of the tournament.
The idea is to try to spend as little time as necessary at the courts. That's not to compromise my practice but I'll come in, get my tennis done, have physio, a massage and then leave.

I won't be floating around here wasting time - after all, I've got to get home to watch Euro 2012 and work on my Fantasy Football team in the evenings!
On Monday, I'll sit down with my coach Ivan Lendl and hitting-partner Dani Valverdu, discuss the Davydenko match and analyse the tactics we want to employ.
Ivan will pass on a few little tit-bits, some of his experience and that will be me all set.

The messages of support from family and friends mean a lot to me. It's been so long since a British player won Wimbledon - and everybody wants to see it - so I get plenty of good wishes and it's a very good source of motivation.
Away from the courts, it's been nice to spend time with my girlfriend Kim. We'll usually get some food in or pop to a local restaurant, although there aren't many good places for sushi, my favourite food, around where we live.
We went out for dinner the other night and the plan was to see a movie too, but they weren't showing either of the two I want to see - The Dictator and Casa de Mi Padre. Instead I've been playing online Golden Eye, it's pretty addictive.
That's also probably why I didn't manage to watch Miami Heat winning the NBA finals. I caught the highlights of their victory over Oklahoma and it's fair to say I was pretty happy.
I started training in Miami in 2007, the year after they won their first ever championship. They had the likes of Shaquille O'Neal and Dwyane Wade, but the following season they all got injured. When I'm out there I go to as many matches as possible, it's a great game to watch live.

"Everybody always talks about the pressure of playing at Wimbledon, but it's not the people watching - they make it incredible," said a tearful Murray in the wake of his defeat.
"There are mixed emotions. Most of them are negative. The reaction from the crowd was great. I felt like I was playing for the nation and I couldn't quite do it."

"This fortnight was a step in the right direction. I won't go back on the court until my mind is right and I am over the loss," added Murray of his future plans.
"The Olympics is a special event and I want to make sure I am ready. If I play like I did this week I have a good chance of winning a medal."

Pat Cash
Former Wimbledon champion and BBC 5 live expert
"I have been in the same position as Murray at the Australian Open. I couldn't make a speech and it's really tough. Andy played great tennis. The match was played at an unbelievably high standard. Murray will win this title. I said it might not be this year but I wouldn't put money against him next year. He is improving all the time."
