1.kolo: nesuđeni košarkaš iz Bukurešta

Viktor Hanesku. 198 cm, 88 kg. Skoro pa dvometraš iz rumunske prijestonice okušaće svoje šanse sa Rodžerom i na trećem GS turniru. Njegove fizičke karakteristike učinile su da u mladosti bude zaljubljenik igre pod obručima. Međutim, ljubav prema bijelom sportu ipak je došla do izražaja pa ga umjesto u evropskim košarkaškim dvoranama gledamo na svjetskom ATP turu. Trenutno je u Top 50 (47.) a bio je i u Top 30 (26.mjesto prije 4 godine). Iako ima idealnu građu za igru na brzim podlogama, on se ipak najlagodnije osjeća na šljaci. U karijeri je osvojio 1 titulu (Gštad), a u ovoj sezoni nije imao značajnijih rezultata. Imao je ipak nekih Top 30 skalpova, pobjeđivao je Pera, Južnija, Janoviča. Protiv Švajcarca je odigrao 5 mečeva i zabilježio isto toliko poraza. Set je uzeo jedino na Indijan Velsu 2010. godine u njihovom poslednjem susretu. Na 3 dobijena seta su igrali u Melburnu 2010, Parizu 2005, te u Dejvis Kupu u Rumuniji 2004. godine, ishod je bio isti na svim tim mečevima, po 3:0 za Federera.

Teniska simfonija u izvedbi suvjerenog vladara Vimbldona trajala je 68 minuta. Rumun Hanesku je počišćen u 3 seta 6:3, 6:2, 6:0. Federer je od starta plesao po terenu, sijevali su vineri, a neiznuđene grešeke su bile rijetkost. Odnos je bio 32/6. U 1.setu izgubio je svega 2 poena na svoj servis, a u kompletnom meču ukupno 7. Bio je to dakle jedan neravnopravan duel, ali i upozorenje za narednog rivala da se Maestro uželio trave i da je u naletu nakon osvojenog Halea.

2. kolo: kijevski poliglota

Sergej Stahovski. 193 cm, 80 kg. Rođeni Kijevljanin sa prebivalištem u Bratislavi biće druga prepreka za Švajcarca na ovogodišnjem Vimbldonu. Ovaj 27-godišnjak koji je trenutno plasiran na 116. mjesto ATP liste, bio je nekad i na pragu ulaska u Top 30 (31.mjesto u 2010. godini). Govori 5 jezika, pored ukrajinskog, služi se još ruskim, češkim, slovačkim i engleskim. U karijeri je osvojio 4 titule od čega i jednu na travnatoj podlozi (2011. u Hertogenbošu). Ipak još uvjek nema najveći skalp, pošto protiv protivnika iz Top 10 nema pobjedu u dosadašnjih 20 mečeva. Bez značajnijih rezultata u tekućoj godini ulazi u duel sa Federerom, sa kojim je igrao jednom u karijeri, i to prije 2 godine u Dubaiju kada je poražen u 2 seta. U 1. kolu Vimbldona eliminisao je Rožeria Dutra da Silvu u 3 seta.

Annacone : “Everyone looks all the way ahead. I hope he gets that far. Obviously to beat all those guys in succession would be a great effort. For me, all that matters is the first match and trying to give himself the position to keep going. As soon as you start worrying about the second week, you’re not going to be in the second week. I’m trying to focus on the beginning, and to make sure he gets off to a good start, but that would be a tremendous effort.”

How much of an achievement would be for Roger to become the first man to win Wimbledon eight times?

Annacone :“If you look at the record books, it would be just one of those historical landmarks. It would be tremendous. But I generally leave those things to the pundits and historians to talk about. From a playing perspective, you just try to focus on the competition, and to give yourself the best opportunity of winning another one.”

Were you surprised that the All England Club left Nadal as the fifth seed, which led to Roger being drawn against him as early as the quarter-finals?

Annacone : would change it at all. That’s just the way it goes. If Rafa played a whole year, he probably wouldn’t be seeded fifth here, but that’s just the way it goes. If the main goal is to win or lose this tournament, you’re probably not going to win or lose it based on your draw. If you are, then there’s a problem. You’re probably not good enough or ready enough. You just have to play one match at a time and whoever is there is there. It all comes out in the wash.”

Is Roger a better player at the All England Club than he is at other tournaments?

Annacone : “I don’t know. He’s had some pretty terrific results at the other slams. But this is a very special place for him, it’s unique. To win this tournament seven times must mean something. He obviously loves being here and playing here. Generally, the best players do love playing at Wimbledon. This place brings out something special in him, just because it’s such a historical place.”

Do you get frustrated or annoyed with people saying this hasn’t been a good year so far for Roger?

Annacone : “I’m not frustrated or annoyed when people say that it hasn’t been a great year so far for Roger. I know that there’s an instantaneous

media world. I know that it is what it is. It’s the same conversation that we had last year, and it makes for debate. There are high expectations and the bar is very high. It hasn’t been a year like it was in the past for him, but it’s not the first time that this has happened. The great thing about Roger, and I think about all the best players, is that they don’t panic. They just keep playing and moving forward, and keep working on things, and keep a very good perspective. You can’t really worry about what’s happened, you can only evaluate what’s happened, and then make educated and informed decisions as you move ahead. And that’s what he does. And that’s why he has sustained a very high level over many years. He has kept his perspective, regardless of how much volatility there is in conversations about him.”

How has Roger changed as a player since he won his first grand slam 10 years ago at the 2003 Wimbledon Championships?

Annacone : “I wasn’t working with him at the beginning, but it’s all so fresh and new at the beginning, and it takes time to adjust to your environment. Roger’s now comfortable with where he is, in terms of who he is and what he’s done, yet the impressive thing is that he still has incredible drive and hunger to continue to have success. That’s rare. And I think that’s based on his enjoyment of the game. His overall comfort level with his life and his situation allows him to keep having fun competing, and working to compete, and that’s a big bonus.”

Slažem se Gama, neviđeno cjepidlačenje je u pitanju. Ali to su Englezi

Mnogo je veca povrsina u pitanju od Fedovog djona
