Nisam videla, a ovde mi izgleda prikladno.

On Monday, March 5th, 2012, as the BNP Paribas Showdown returns for its fifth year at the World’s Most Famous Arena – Madison Square Garden. The night starts with three-time Grand Slam champion Maria Sharapova against the World’s No. 1 women’s player, Caroline Wozniacki followed by, Roger Federer, against long-time rival and former World No. 1 and US Open Champion Andy Roddick. Both matches will be best of three sets.

“Playing in Madison Square Garden has always been a dream of mine,” said Sharapova. “Everyone wants to play there at least once in their career. I look forward to coming back to New York for the Showdown.”
Roddick added, “I have never had a chance to play at the Garden before and to play Roger there will make it a special night. I am really looking forward to a great event.”
“Madison Square Garden has an unparalleled history of great tennis with more than 80 years featuring some of the very best in the game in a unique arena setting,” said Scott O’Neil, president, MSG Sports. “At the BNP Paribas Showdown on March 5th, Roger Federer, Andy Roddick, Maria Sharapova and Caroline Wozniacki will all grace The Garden court and entertain a very New York crowd joining the ranks of tennis greats featured at The World’s Most Famous Arena.”

“Having four of the most popular tennis players of the past decade at the BNP Paribas Showdown should make for an exciting night of tennis for the New York fans. This lineup carries on the great tradition of tennis at Madison Square Garden and should form the basis for a great celebration of the sport on Tennis Night in America,” said Jerry Solomon, Executive Producer and President of StarGames.

“Tennis Night in America” has annually marked the start of the tennis season in the United States and begins a month of professional events that include the BNP Paribas Open and Sony Ericsson Open. Last year Pete Sampras was the spokesman and over 700 tennis facilities across the country participated.

After an eight year hiatus professional tennis returned to Madison Square Garden on March 10, 2008 with the NetJets Showdown between World No. 1 Roger Federer and former Grand Slam record holder Pete Sampras.

The following year women’s tennis returned to The Garden with the BNP Paribas Showdown for the Billie Jean King Cup in 2009 and 2010. Players who have participated include: Serena Williams, Venus Williams, Kim Clijsters, Ana Ivanovic, Svetlana Kuznetsova and Jelena Jankovic. Last year four legends of the game took to the court when Ivan Lendl squared off against John McEnroe followed by Andre Agassi and Pete Sampras.

Kad procitah sta kazete za Rida, morala sam da odem i da se licno uverim
covek se bas zahuktao. I'm scared :crybaby:
Novak Djokovic is the greatest player that I have ever seen, without any doubt whatsoever.

Does that make him officially the best player that has ever played the game? No. He needs to win a fair few more titles for that.

But the Serb is the best player I have ever seen, and I believe he is the greatest and will prove that over the next few years.

This is the greatest ever era of men's tennis and Djokovic has now moved to a level which surpasses what either Roger Federer or Rafael Nadal have reached.

Federer is not playing any worse than he was two or three years ago, and his shot-making is as brilliant as it ever was, but he's not winning Grand Slams anymore.

The Swiss is very close to his best, and Djokovic is consistently beating him.

As for Nadal, there is no doubt that Djokovic has the edge in their encounters, and the Spaniard has a real psychological problem with his rival now.

Federer has won more titles than anyone else, but there is an argument to say that his first few Grand Slam wins came when his rivals were not up to scratch.

Nadal then became the best player in the world temporarily, but now Djokovic has won six finals, including Wimbledon, against the Spaniard.

I can easily see Djokovic going on to win two or three Grand Slam titles next season and again and again for the coming years.
It is very difficult to see either Nadal or Federer beating Djokovic at a Grand Slam now, and the Serb has quite simply moved to a new level - the highest that I have ever seen.

Federer continues to fight like a lion, but mentally we need to see more from him if he is to pip Djokovic at a Grand Slam.

I thoroughly enjoyed the final: at times, it was a touch one-dimensional, but it was truly thrilling.

When Nadal won the third set it looked as though it could be an all-time epic, but the way that Djokovic stormed back to close out the match was very impressive.

Djokovic may not be the shot-maker that Federer is, but I believe he will produce tennis over the next few years which will be greater than any player has ever produced before him.

I truly believe that in five years' time, we will all come to the conclusion that Djokovic is the greatest player that has ever graced a tennis court.

Poor Djokovic. I hope Simon Reed curse comment will not work for him. Every time Simon Reed praise someone, next time that player always have ]bad luck.

:D

Interesantan tekst "Rafa Nadal Is The Real Role Model, Not Roger Federer", napisan jula 2009.
http://bleacherreport.com/articles/220608-rafa-nadal-isthe-real-role-model-not-roger-federer
Evo samo nekih delova
Federer is about tennis. Nadal is about life. Federer is beautiful. Nadal is inspirational. Federer is something we can wish we were, or hope to be in another lifetime. Nadal is what we can aspire to be in this one.

I must admit that I didn’t take to the Spaniard at first. He was too muscly, played too far behind the baseline. His game comprised of long, slow, boring rallies, he never came to the net to volley. It was not an all-court game, there was little touch or feel. He grunted too much. He was the Beast from Mallorca. There was nothing pretty about him. I like pretty. I like elegant.
At the time Rafa was nineteen. Over the next few years, he changed. Not just sport, not just Federer’s trajectory. He changed himself. He evolved. He mastered himself. He adapted.

Rafa was a fighter. Not only did he fight for every point on court as if it were for his life, coming back from the brink to win against everyone, and I mean everyone. He also fought off the court. He fought for his fitness, forcing his aching knees to go on and on, playing through pain. He fought his own style of play, making himself learn new techniques, becoming a player for all surfaces, mastering first the grass of Wimbledon and then the hard courts of Melbourne.

I agree that he is not perhaps as naturally gifted as Federer. Then it dawns on me that that’s it! I too can be like Rafa Nadal. How many of us are blessed with natural gifts? How many of us are born with the destiny of genius looming large? Of course Nadal’s talented. No one wins as much as he has done without talent. But what he lacked in natural ability, he made up for in effort. He resolved. He delivered. He fought the odds. Again and again.

Every time he lost, he refused to make excuses. Even at the French Open this year, after his shock defeat by Robin Soderling, Rafa did not once mention his knees.
There are times when Federer sounds a little bit conceited these days. His interviews and comments readily acknowledge his own greatness. When he was losing to a lot of players last year, he sounded grumpy.

But this is what you can tell your kids when they watch Nadal. To be brave and to never give up. To be humble and generous in victory and defeat. To let will overcome deficit and adversity. To try. To keep trying. These are qualities we can actually control. These are qualities that have nothing to do with sport and everything to do with life. You cannot be Godlike. But you can be an exemplary human.

If there is any justice in the world, Rafa’s injuries will be ones he will be able to overcome. If they were not, I would begin to doubt the point of goodness, effort and sacrifice. Because I am not an athlete, I do not watch sport to learn how to play them. When I watch sport, I look for life lessons. Sport inspires me. But never in the twenty odd years that I’ve been watching it, has any individual inspired me this much. Hopefully he will be back in a month or so and we can watch him pursue his next dream, that of winning the US Open and the career Grand Slam at the impossibly young age of 23.

One thing by now you know for sure. With Rafa anything’s possible. That is his gift. To us.
